No. 4: Tony Kanaan, Chip Ganassi Racing

While Tony Kanaan has not won on an oval track since he won at Fontana in 2014, he has been the most consistently good driver at all oval tracks over the years.

Kanaan is has always been a factor at oval tracks like Indianapolis, Texas, Iowa, Pocono, and Phoenix, all tracks that the series currently visits on a yearly basis. He has won at all of those tracks at least once except for Pocono, where he has only competed four times.

In 2016, his lowest finish on an oval track was his 9th place finish at Pocono. The fact that a top 10 finish is his lowest finish among five oval races really says a lot about spectacular he is on ovals despite not having won a race in three seasons.

Kanaan’s past four wins, which span back to 2008, have come on oval tracks. Couple that with the consistency on ovals that he shows every season, and you know why he has earned this spot on this list.
