NASCAR: 5 Lessons Learned From The Camping World 500 At Phoenix
The Camping World 500 this Sunday at Phoenix was filled with surprises, the biggest one being Ryan Newman earning his first win since 2013. Before NASCAR gets ready to move on to Fontana, here are five lessons we learned this week at Phoenix.
As NASCAR headed into Phoenix, the one one thing everyone seemed to be focused on was the fight between Kyle Busch and Joey Logano at Las Vegas. Would it spill over to Phoenix? Would the heat be too much for an already hot headed Kyle Busch?
With the race over fans now have a clear answer on what to expect between Logano and Busch, but more importantly, we were able to see Ryan Newman snap a long winless streak.
He’s now set to make a playoff run for Richard Childress Racing and has helped bring attention to an organization that was lacking behind the other major groups in NASCAR.
But how exactly did Newman pull off his win? He was quiet for most of the race, and even though the 31 team decided to keep him out during the last caution while a majority of the field went for two tires, what was the key to staying out in front?
Ryan Newman wasn’t the only big winner at Phoenix as Kyle Larson was able to use the Camping World 500 to move up into first place in the standings. Is this young driver ready to break out and be the next top driver in the Monster Energy Series?
A lot happened in the desert and before drivers move onto the last track of the ‘NASCAR goes west’, here are five lessons we learned from the Camping World 500.
