NASCAR is headed to the Lone Star State for the the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. What will happen during the race on Sunday as drivers compete in the newly repaved surface of Texas Motor Speedway? Here are five predictions.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is ready to move on from the short track racing of Martinsville Speedway to the 1.5-mile track of Texas Motor Speedway.

Over the years Texas has been like every other 1.5-mile track; similar in shape and if one driver can manage to get out in front during restarts, the clean air is going to give them a major lead over the rest of the field.

The the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 on Sunday though, might not end up like all the other races we’ve seen at Texas over the years.

The biggest story heading into the race on Sunday will be about the repaved surface of this track. Not only did they repave it though, they changed the banking on turns one and two and made the track wider at these turns as well.

We’ve already seen a little of how the repave might impact drivers on Sunday, as a couple of top drivers took a spin during the first round of practice.

Should we expect the same thing to happen during the race on Sunday?

Several top drivers are still looking for a win, and Ford looked extremely fast during qualifying on Friday. Is it time for a driver like Kevin Harvick or Clint Bowyer to get their first win of the season and join the other handful of drivers who will be in the playoffs?

Before the race at Texas starts this Sunday, here are five predictions for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500.
