Rain, rain, go away! The NASCAR Xfinity Series was set for a 250-mile race on Friday night around the high banks of Daytona International Speedway, until Mother Nature intervened. The Firecracker 250, scheduled to be completed by around 10:00 PM eastern time, will now run on Saturday at noon eastern after being stopped on Lap 11.
Scattered showers and storms, common to Florida in the summer months, have now delayed at least one of the Daytona night races in July in each of the last three years. The Xfinity Series race, originally airing on NBCSN, will now run to completion on Saturday on CNBC. The primary sports network for NBC Sports is already committed to airing the opening leg of the Tour de France at that time.
Blake Koch was the leader of the race at the moment of caution and the eventual red flag. Ben Kennedy, Brennan Poole, Daniel Suarez and Daniel Hemric round out the current top 5.
