In an eventful and exciting Saturday night special for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. earned his second career win at Daytona.

More from NASCAR

The Coke Zero 400 at Daytona is one of the premier races on the NASCAR schedule that just about every driver wants to win. Not only is it a big race at Daytona International Speedway, but it one of the most watched and most attended Saturday night races on the calendar. In the 2017 edition, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. held off a pack of hungry drivers for his second career victory.

Stenhouse, who won earlier this year at Talladega Superspeedway, has quietly become one of the top drivers on the 2.5-mile ovals in stock car racing. He passed David Ragan and Ty Dillon for the win on Saturday night in overtime, after a race that eliminated a large number of the usual contenders.

A record number of cautions that included no fewer than two big multi-car wrecks help knock out favorites including Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch, Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott. This led to a variety of new and rarely seen faces near the front of the field at the finish, including a number of underfunded organizations.

The top 5 reads like someone scrambled up the running order in a typical NASCAR event. Following Stenhouse across the line was Clint Bowyer 2nd and Paul Menard in 3rd, with Michael McDowell and Ryan Newman rounding out the top 5.
