Brad Keselowski, Austin Dillon, Kyle Larson and Ryan Newman all raced at Eldora Speedway in the Truck Series while they were full-time competitors in the Cup Series. Which other NASCAR drivers should join them?

On the 2017 Eldora Dirt Derby 150 entry list, only one full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver is present. That driver, Ty Dillon, will make this fourth start after sitting out the 2016 race.

As NASCAR drivers and crews take full advantage of rare weekends off, the race at Eldora Speedway provides drivers with a chance to run during the middle of the week and save time from their weekend duties.

More from NASCAR

The biggest obstacle in all of this is that the race at Eldora Speedway is the Wednesday before one of NASCAR’s biggest races, the Brickyard 400. With many drivers focusing on one of the crown jewel events, it is very difficult for them to divert their attention mid-week for a race that provides very little to their championship hopes.

The 2018 schedule, however, provides an opportunity to change that. The race at Eldora Speedway will be the Wednesday before the Cup and Xfinity Series head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway. With the race at Indy moving to the final race in the regular season, it provides a chance for NASCAR’s best to battle it out on the dirt.

Let’s get a head start and take a look at some of the NASCAR drivers we want to see run at Eldora.
