Racing around the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for many years was a privilege reserved only for the open wheel ranks. Today, however, NASCAR and stock car racing have a rich history at IMS, and will continue that this weekend. The Brickyard 400 highlights the racing action on this weekend’s motorsports TV schedule.
That’s right, NASCAR is back in action at the Brickyard, with both the Xfinity Series and Monster Energy Cup Series racing on Saturday and Sunday. This will be the first time that stage racing will happen on the famed 2.5-mile oval, hoping to turn around the recent struggles for attention and attendance at IMS.
Elsewhere in the racing world, the NHRA will be featured live on the FOX broadcast network from the Mile High Nationals in Denver. Meanwhile, the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship drives into the Northeast, taking on the tightly wound Lime Rock Park.
