Honorable Mentions

KASEY KAHNE. HM. [Last Race: Not Ranked (+1)] — Will Kasey Kahne lose his ride at Hendrick Motorsports? Not so fast. At the Brickyard 400, Kahne broke a 102-race winless streak with his first win since he won at Atlanta back in the 2014 season. In doing so, he secured himself a spot in the playoffs, and he will now finish higher than he did in the championship standings in each of the past two seasons no matter what. He had been fighting for his playoff life and came out on top. Will he come out on top in the battle to hang onto his current ride for next season?. No. 5. Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet

No. 22. Team Penske, Ford. JOEY LOGANO. HM. [Last Race: Not Ranked (+2)] — Joey Logano stepped it up at the Brickyard 400 with a 4th place effort, which was good for his 2nd highest finish since his encumbered win at Richmond that took place 12 races ago now. He is still on the outside of the playoff cut line fighting for his playoff life, and Kasey Kahne winning his first race of the season didn’t help matters. But Logano has the skill to win at any track, so he may not even need to qualify for the playoff on points if he can secure a victory over the course of the next six races.
