In his second win for Hendrick Motorsports, Kahne was not the dominant driver, which was also the case in his first victory for the team at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte earlier in the 2012 season. The 2nd place finisher, Denny Hamlin, led much of the race, leading 150 of the race’s 301 laps .
Kahne did not lead the race until lap 236 of the race’s 301 laps, but once he took the lead, he never looked back, leading the final 66 laps of the race en route to his 14th career Cup Series victory and second as a Hendrick Motorsports driver.
