NASCAR: Looking back at Kasey Kahne’s six victories at Hendrick Motorsports

Pocono, 2013
For the first time as the driver of the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, Kasey Kahne won a race as the driver who led more laps of the race than any other driver. Ironically, he did so after starting in 18th place, his worst starting spot in a race he won for Hendrick Motorsports up until this point in time. This victory ended a 16-race win drought for him.

Kahne led 66 of the race’s 160 laps, which made this victory arguably his most dominant with Hendrick Motorsports even to this day. However, unlike in his three previous wins as a Hendrick Motorsports driver, he did not lead a bunch of laps at the end of the race en route to victory.
Kahne and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon battled it out for the victory after the final restart with two laps to go, with Kahne taking the lead from Gordon with just over one lap to go and pulling away. He never looked back and led the race’s final two laps en route to his 16th career Cup Series victory and fourth as a Hendrick Motorsports driver.
