Kyle Busch, Joe Gibbs Racing, No. 18 Toyota

Kyle Busch already won the Truck Series and Xfinity Series races at Bristol earlier this week. Why not take the Cup Series race as well? It certainly wouldn’t be unexpected, as he has won five times in 24 attempts here.

Busch took a while to really get going this season, as he really wasn’t a factor toward the top of the championship standings early on. In fact, he even crashed at the first Bristol race earlier this season. As a five-time Bristol winner, that just proved nothing was going his way early.

However, slowly but surely, Busch began to rack up solid finishes to get himself into the top 3 in the standings. Yet he was still without a victory, and he ended up going on the longest win drought of his career toward the middle of the season. That drought lasted 36 races.

Busch ended that drought at Pocono, which was, ironically, a track at which he had never won before at the time. He even made his way up to 2nd in the standings and stayed there after the Watkins Glen race.

Now that Busch finally got things going this season, he has to be one of the favorites to win at Bristol. No active driver has won more times at Bristol than he has, and the fact that he really hasn’t struggled to contend anywhere recently certainly does not hurt his case at a track he has had great success at before.
