Formula One: Championship Standings After Belgium
By Asher Fair
After Lewis Hamilton took the checkered flag at the Belgian Grand Prix, how do the Formula One championship standings look?
Coming off of the 12th race of the 2017 Formula One season at Spa-Francorchamps, Sebastian Vettel is still on top of the championship standings.
Vettel drives for Ferrari, which is one of two teams that owns two of the drivers currently in the top 5 in the standings; the other team with two drivers in the top 5 is Mercedes, and the other team with one driver in the top 5 is Red Bull Racing .
Vettel maintained his lead in the championship standings by finishing in 2nd place at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium.

As of now, it would appear as though the championship battle will come down to the drivers currently in the top 2 in the standings.
While Vettel still leads the standings, Lewis Hamilton, who sits in 2nd place, did close the gap from 14 points to 7 points thanks to the fact that he won the race ahead of Vettel.
While the championship battle appears to be between Vettel and Hamilton, all three of the drivers currently in the top 3 in the standings drivers are within just 42 points of each other. Daniel Ricciardo sits in 4th place 46 points behind Valtteri Bottas, who sits in 3rd, so he will likely not factor into the championship hunt.
