In a race where he virtually locked up his first ARCA championship, Austin Theriault won his seventh race of the 2017 season at Kentucky Speedway.

The 2017 ARCA Racing Series Presented by Menards has been one dominated by Ken Schrader Racing and Austin Theriault. The #52 team had won six times coming into the Crosley Brands 150 at Kentucky Speedway on Friday night, looking for a lucky seventh.

Not only would Theriault and team get their wish, but they head to Kansas Speedway next month with the championship virtually in hand.

Theriault, earning his seventh win on Friday night in the Bluegrass State, took advantage of a messy restart late from leader Riley Herbst. The driver of the #18 Toyota battled four-wide with Sheldon Creed, Dalton Sargeant, and Chase Purdy, only to make contact and slide back. A number of contenders would be collected in smaller incidents down the stretch.

The driver who dominated early on the night came home in third. Sheldon Creed, driving for MDM Motorsports, led a third of the race, before making contact with the lap-down machine of Con Nicolopoulos. This forced the #28 Toyota to pit road for repairs. While he would return to the front late, he was unable to retake the lead.

With his seventh win of the season, Austin Theriault just needs to start the season finale at Kansas Speedway on October 20 to win the title. His points lead now sits at 405 points, an easily comfortable lead heading into the final race of the 2017 campaign.
