Front Row Motorsports announced that they will not retain Landon Cassill as the driver of the #34 Ford in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Front Row Motorsports announced that they will not be bringing back 28-year-old Landon Cassill to drive the #34 Ford in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Cassill has driven for the team for two seasons now following five seasons driving for other teams full-time in the Cup Series. Last season, he drove the #38 Ford, but this season, he switched to the #34 Ford as David Ragan took over the driving duties of the #38 car. Cassill replaced Chris Buescher in the #34 car.
Cassill’s Cup Series career thus far has been nothing short of a major disappointment. However, he doesn’t plan to call it quits just yet, as he is only 28 years old and has been driving full-time for seven seasons, although if his career does continue beyond the conclusion of this season, it won’t be with Front Row Motorsports.

Cassill began his career as a part-time driver in 2010 driving for Phoenix Racing, TRG Motorsports and Gunselman Motorsports before becoming a full-time driver in 2011 driving for Germain Racing and Phoenix Racing. In 2012, he drove full-time for BK Racing before moving to Circle Sport to drive full-time in 2013.
In 2014, Cassill continued driving full-time but for Hillman Racing, where he stayed and drove in 2015 after the team was renamed to Hillman Smith Motorsports. It was in 2016 when he got his full-time ride with Front Row Motorsports that he currently has now but will not have next year.
In his Cup Series career, Cassill has driven in 253 Cup Series races. He has never won and has just one career top 10 finish to his name. That top 10 finish was a 4th place result at Talladega back in 2014 in his 147th career start. In the 106 races since his career-high 4th place finish, his best finish is 11th place at Talladega in 2016.
With Talladega, the track where Cassill’s best three career finishes have come at, hosting the next Cup Series race this Sunday, October 15th, 2017, he may have an opportunity to secure a solid result to prove to other teams that he can contend and is at least deserving of another chance as a part-time driver.
