Post-prediction wrap-up

Above all, after this weekend at Talladega, there will only be five more weeks of racing in the Cup Series this season. The second round of the playoffs are tighter than ever and it is crucial for teams to avoid the “big one” to keep their playoff hopes alive.

More from NASCAR

The Ford dominance could very well be on display again this weekend. On the other hand, anything and everything could happen. Without a doubt, the best part of racing at superspeedways is the unpredictability. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, another line forms and pushes its way to the front.

The only guarantee this weekend is when the “big one” happens, it will all but ruin a driver’s playoff chances. Some drivers will choose to spend most of the race in the back avoiding trouble, while others will do their best to avoid big wrecks by attempting to stay up front. Either way, fans are in for a treat when the NASCAR Cup Series hits the high banks on Sunday.
