IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge

Often forgotten as the little-known stepchild of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge actually has a deep history in the ranks of American support series racing. With roots that trace back to Grand-Am and Canadian sanctioning, the CTSCC Series is where many of the nation’s rising sportscar stars cut their teeth.

The Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge became the 2nd division of IMSA after the unification of sportscar racing in 2014. Serving as the second fiddle to the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the series has become a landing ground for rising stars and seasoned veterans alike in the road racing world. Names like Billy Johnson, Spencer Pumpelly, Robin Liddell, and Paul Dalla Lana have become sportscar sensations in part due to their prowess shown in the CTSCC Series.

So what makes the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge so exciting? Two classes of racing on the same track. That’s right, two different divisions of cars are sharing the track together in the same race, fighting side by side for what could be an overall or class victory. And with nearly half a dozen different manufacturers represented, fans of various automakers can certainly find someone to cheer for in the field.

Be sure to tune in for races from the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, shown on tape delay on FS1 and live on FansChoice.TV.
