NASCAR: 2017 Hollywood Casino 400 qualifying results – Martin Truex Jr. on pole
By Asher Fair
Martin Truex Jr. will start on the pole position at Kansas Speedway in the final race of the Round of 12 in this year’s NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
The NASCAR Cup Series is in its 32nd of 36 races of the 2017 season, the sixth of 10 races in this year’s playoffs and the third and final race in this year’s Round of 12, the second of four rounds in this year’s playoffs.
This weekend’s race is the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. It is the second trip of the season to the track for the Cup Series, with the other coming back in the middle of May also succeeding an exciting restrictor plate race at Talladega.
Furniture Row Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., the driver of the #78 Toyota who leads the standings, stage points and playoff points and is one of two drivers along with last week’s Talladega winner Brad Keselowski who has locked up a spot in the Round of 8, will start this weekend’s Kansas race where he left off in May.

That is in the #1 position. In fact, the top 3 starters for this Sunday’s race all finishes in the top 4 at Kansas in the May race, with 3rd place starter Ryan Blaney taking pole for the May race and finishing in 4th place after losing the lead late.
Drivers who are still alive in the Round of 12 in this year’s playoffs make up the top 5 starting spots on the grid, and there is only one Round of 12 playoff driver who did not qualify in the top 15, which means it is going to be an all-out battle to get to the front and secure a spot in the Round of 8 and gain precious stage and playoff points.
