Lewis Hamilton dominated the United States Grand Prix once more for Mercedes, clinching the team the Formula One constructors title for the 2017 season.

The United States Grand Prix has quietly become one of the premier races for the Formula One world championship, especially with new owner Liberty Media having strong American ties. The biggest face for F1 in the states is Lewis Hamilton, and he was on full display for all to see on Sunday. Hamilton dominated the United States Grand Prix, and in the process locked up the manufacturers title for Mercedes.

Despite starting on pole for the race, it was not Hamilton leading the opening laps of this year’s race at Circuit of the Americas. Instead, Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel jumped out to a great start, leading the opening ten laps of the race in Austin.

But then, Hamilton and the Mercedes power propelled the championship favorite to the front, from where he would never look back. Hamilton won the United States Grand Prix by over ten seconds ahead of his chief championship combatant Sebastian Vettel.

The battle for third, however, was a controversial one. Max Verstappen made a late pass on Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen to steal the last podium spot. However, race stewards would later rule that the move was out of bounds, shuffling Raikkonen to third and Verstappen to fourth. Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top five.

One championship would be sealed up on Sunday at Circuit of the Americas, but not the drivers fight. The constructors title was secured by Mercedes AMG Petronas on Sunday with Hamilton’s win, making it yet another consecutive year the silver arrows took the crown. The battle for the drivers championship moves on to Mexico.
