Former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen went on a Twitter rampage after his son Max was penalized in the United States Grand Prix.

With one lap to go in the 17th Formula One race of the 2017 season, the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas this past Sunday, Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen made a bold move to get around Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen with just a few turns left in the final lap of the race, taking 3rd place in the process after starting the race way back in 16th.

Verstappen held on to finish the race in 3rd place behind only race winner Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes and Raikkonen’s teammate Sebastian Vettel in 2nd place. Raikkonen held on to finish in 4th.

However, after the race had ended and Hamilton, Vettel and Verstappen were preparing to go onto the podium to celebrate, the race stewards announced that Verstappen’s pass of Raikkonen for 3rd place on the final lap of the race was illegal.

According to the stewards, Verstappen left the racing line to make the pass, and they gave him a 5-second time penalty because of it, which effectively pushed him back to 4th place while giving Raikkonen the third and final spot on the podium despite the fact that he finished the race behind Verstappen.

After it was announced that Verstappen would not be on the podium despite finishing the race in 3rd place, his father, former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen, went on a Twitter rampage calling out the FIA.

Here is a link to the video of the pass that led to the controversial penalty, and below is how Max’s father Jos responded to the penalty on Twitter.
