Formula One: Several drivers standings positions up for grabs in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

In the final Formula One race of the 2017 season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, several positions in the drivers standings are still up for grabs.

The 20-race 2017 Formula One season will come to a close with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday, November 26th. However, while 19 of the 20 races this season have already been completed, there are several positions in both the drivers and constructors standings that are still up for grabs.

This article, however, will only touch on the drivers standings positions still up for grabs, as the description of the constructors standings positions still available is a separate article.

Remember that a total of 25 points can be gained each by a driver in the race assuming that driver wins the race. Without further ado, let’s begin.

Drivers standings positions still available

1st through 8th

1st place

  • Lewis Hamilton has clinched 1st place.

2nd place

  • Sebastian Vettel clinches 2nd place by not allowing Valtteri Bottas to outscore him by more than 22 points.
  • Valtteri Bottas clinches 2nd place by outscoring Sebastian Vettel by at least 22 points.

3rd place

  • Valtteri Bottas is currently in 3rd place, but no drivers are shooting to finish 3rd.

4th place

  • Daniel Ricciardo clinches 4th place by not allowing Kimi Raikkonen to outscore him by more than 7 points.
  • Kimi Raikkonen clinches 4th place by outscoring Daniel Ricciardo by at least 7 points.

5th place

  • Kimi Raikkonen is currently in 5th place, but no drivers are shooting to finish 5th.

6th place

  • Max Verstappen has clinched 6th place.

7th place

  • Sergio Perez clinches 7th place by not allowing Esteban Ocon to outscore him by more than 11 points.
  • Esteban Ocon clinches 7th place by outscoring Sergio Perez by at least 11 points.

8th place

  • Esteban Ocon is currently in 8th place, but no driver are shooting to finish 8th.
