Joey Gase will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2018 with a new team to run full-time, led by Go Green Racing and Archie St. Hilaire.

Perhaps one of the surprises for many during the 2017 NASCAR season was seeing Joey Gase racing in the Cup Series. He competed in select races with Premium Motorsports and BK Racing, and looked to land a full-time ride in the series for the new year. However, it appears Gase will be back in the Xfinity Series once again in 2018, racing for a new organization full-time.

Gase and Go Green Racing announced on Friday that they will field the #35 Ford in the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series. The team, led by Go Fas Racing co-owner Archie St. Hilaire, will be a sister operation to the Cup Series team of Matt DiBenedetto. It will also mark the return of team owner St. Hilaire to the series, where he started Go Green Racing in 2011.

Go Green Racing’s team owner had this to say about his new driver and his future, according to ESPN:

"It’s been such a pleasure being part of Joey’s career. My family has been very lucky to be part of many firsts for Joey’s career and we look forward to creating great memories together again this year. With Sparks Energy, Donate Life, and many of our other great partners on-board, we hope to make the 2018 NASCAR Playoffs and compete with some of the big teams. We see a lot of potential in Joey, and hopefully we can move him up to Go FAS Racing in 2019 with a two-car Cup operation."

It is interesting to see St. Hilaire already stoking the fires of the 2019 silly season, suggesting that Go Fas Racing could expand to two cars. Perhaps other candidates for that ride will emerge, however, from the deep roster of Ford Performance drivers. But of course, we are a long way away from talking about the 2019 Cup Series season.

The new team will have the support of long-time Joey Gase partner Sparks Energy per the press release. No word yet on how many races they will sponsor the #35 car for. There is also no word if other Gase partners like Donate Life will return to sponsor him at Go Green Racing.

Gase had this to say about Sparks Energy coming aboard his new #35 Ford, according to ESPN:

"Sparks Energy is a great family owned and operated company. The owners, J and Magen, pour their hearts into the company and treat everyone like family. They’re truly living the American dream. I love their hardworking style and great ethics. It’s crazy to think that my partnership with Sparks all began with a Twitter message. I got an email back from the president of the company and the rest is history. I can’t wait to get to Daytona and run with this great team. I can’t thank Archie and everyone at Go Green Racing enough for the opportunity and Sparks Energy for making it happen."
