After driving in the ARCA Racing Series, the up-and-coming Dalton Sargeant has landed a full-time ride in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for 2018.

Former NASCAR Next alumni Dalton Sargeant will move up to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2018, announcing he will drive for GMS Racing. 2018 is shaping to be a very good year for Sargeant, as he has his sights set on winning the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

GMS Racing announced this morning that the up-and-coming driver will join their team in the #25 Chevrolet Silverado for 2018. The #25 is the young driver paying homage to the late Tim Richmond, who was an influence.

Doug Randolph, who will be taking the reigns on top of the pit box as Sargeant’s crew chief, was formerly the crew chief for the #19 team for Austin Cindric at Brad Keselowski Racing. They closed their doors after the 2017 season.

More from Camping World Truck Series

Sargeant spent 2017 having a successful season in the ARCA Racing Series. With three wins, 10 top 5 finishes, and 18 top 10 finishes, the young gun finished runner-up to Austin Theriault for the ARCA Racing championship. He also has six Camping World Truck Series starts, which resulted in two top 10 finishes.

Sargeant will be joining Johnny Sauter and a team that in recent years have become one of the top teams in the NASCAR Truck Series. Last season, the team finished runner-up to champion Christopher Bell. The team went on to win the 2016 Truck Series championship with the veteran Sauter in his first season with the team.

Sargeant, in a press release, says he is very excited for the opportunity given to him by team owner Mike Beam, according to GMS Racing.

"“I’m really excited to be joining a championship-caliber team in GMS Racing for the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Mike Beam and everyone at GMS Racing has put so much effort into this No. 25 team during the off-season and I can’t thank them enough for this opportunity. GMS Racing has put together an all-star team of people and equipment, plus had faith in me to drive and compete for wins. I’m looking forward to what we can accomplish in 2018. It’s always been a dream and a goal to compete at this level in NASCAR. I left a career and a life in Europe to compete against the best in NASCAR and today is that day. We have a full slate of things coming up as a team and I know we’re all really looking forward to getting on the track and beginning the season.”"

GMS Racing are going to one of the teams that many in the Truck Series will look at when it comes to claiming another Truck Series title. Johnny Sauter has helped that team flourish over the last few years and continues to show that he still has a lot left to prove as a driver.
