Denny Hamlin has gone on a Twitter rant in regard to a situation surrounding he and fellow NASCAR Cup Series driver Darrell Wallace Jr.

Before Sunday’s 60th annual Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin stated that he believed 70% of his fellow NASCAR Cup Series drivers take the ADHD drug Adderall.

After several people, including a number of drivers, took an issue with Hamlin’s comments, he stated that he was only joking and that these comments were “getting blown up”.

Toward the end of the Daytona 500, Hamlin and rookie Darrell Wallace Jr. were racing for 2nd place behind Austin Dillon, who at that point had opened up a sizable gap and was on his way to winning the race after making contact with Aric Almirola, which resulted in Almirola spinning out and losing the lead he had going into turn 3 on the race’s final lap.

Wallace Jr. side drafted Hamlin coming to the checkered flag, and the two cars made slight contact. Hamlin proceeded to push Wallace Jr. up the track and into the wall.

Here is a video of the dramatic finish of the race.

Here is what Wallace Jr. had to say about the matter, according to Motorsport.

"“I want to see the replay before I say anything stupid, but he might need to take some Adderall for that one. He (Hamlin) said I cut his tire down. Looks like the same move he pulled on Blaney at Martinsville, but hey, we edged him out — we beat him, so it’s all good.”"

Here is a video of this interview.

Hamlin did not take kindly to Wallace Jr.’s comments about Adderall, which were clearly meant to mock Hamlin for his earlier remarks about it. After the two drivers had an angry confrontation after the race, Hamlin went on a Twitter rant.

Further displaying his anger and immaturity, Hamlin then called one of the people who replied to his comment a moron.

With just one race of the 36 scheduled races in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series complete, things are already tense and there is already drama. The question is whether or not there will continue to be drama moving forward.

Will this issue between Hamlin and Wallace Jr. lead to anything in the future, or will things cool down as the season progresses?

Will there be drama between any other drivers throughout the season? With 35 races and nearly nine months to go until the season concludes at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida, it is anybody’s guess.
