Kevin Harvick recently commented about the recent feud started by fellow NASCAR Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin, and he was spot-on.

This past Tuesday night, 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kevin Harvick, 42, made comments about fellow Cup Series driver Denny Hamlin in regard to controversial comments that Hamlin made about drivers using Adderall.

Hamlin, 37, later stated that his comments were only a joke, but at that point, the damage had already been done. As a result of these comments, a feud between Hamlin and Darrell Wallace Jr., 24. has been in the spotlight since Wallace Jr. fired back at Hamlin for his remarks after Hamlin shoved Wallace Jr. into the wall coming to the checkered flag at the Daytona 500.

Hamlin and Wallace Jr. engaged in a heated confrontation after Wallace Jr. fired back, and Hamlin proceeded to go on a Twitter rant about the situation. In this rant, he would call out “idiots on Twitter” and reply to a comment by a fan and call him a “moron”.

As far as Harvick’s comments about the topic go, he could not have been more spot-on.

Harvick has been known to keep it real in the past, most notably when he was discussing his belief that Dale Earnhardt Jr. stunted the growth of NASCAR since he did not live up to all of the hype and was not as successful as his father was in addition to the fact that he was the sport’s most popular driver for 15 consecutive seasons to close out his career despite the fact that he underperformed for a top-tier Hendrick Motorsports team and was never able to win a championship.

Here is what Harvick had to say about the Denny Hamlin on Tuesday night, according to NBC Sports.

"“Those 70 percent of drivers he referred to are mad because of the fact that you’re the guy sitting in the trailer doing the drug testing 10 or 12 times a year from a random standpoint and understanding the things you can and can’t do. Whether he thinks it was an off-the-cuff comment and something he meant  to say or not to say, it still offended most everybody in the garage.“If you’re going to play around, joking and think it’s not something that everybody is going to take offense to…I think he’s probably seeing that nobody really appreciated it and it put everybody in a bad spot. [The comments] made him seem kind of out of touch with everything that is going on in the sport. Not a very cool comment.’“Obviously Denny has got himself into a few spots in the past little bit. We don’t even need to go much further than that. You can look back at Martinsville and look at the couple of instances he had during Speedweeks.“Sometimes it’s better not to go on rants on Twitter and defend yourself, and sometimes you just need to quit talking and this is definitely, probably one of those instances. I would call it an edgy interview source where all this came from. Sometimes you’ve got to keep your mouth shut.’’"

As usual, Harvick’s assessment is spot-on. Why wouldn’t drivers be upset with Hamlin’s ignorant remarks? Hamlin has since stated that he has spoken to Harvick about the matter and that the two drivers are “good”.

Do you agree with Kevin Harvick’s comments, or do you think that Harvick is the one who should be keeping his mouth shut as opposed to Denny Hamlin? It will be interesting to see whether or not this situation is truly in the past as the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season progresses.
