Stewart-Haas Racing have dominated so far in 2018. Is it time to consider this season the beginning of NASCAR’s newest dynasty?

It’s been almost 10 years since Stewart-Haas Racing was formed, and the team already have two championships. This season, the team have won four of the last five NASCAR Cup Series races. They have not started a season this well before. Could it be the start of something big that could last for years to come?

Stewart-Haas Racing earned their first victory in 2009 when Tony Stewart won the All-Star race at Charlotte. Stewart won the team’s first points-paying race at Pocono later that season. He went on to win three other races that season and finished sixth in the championship standings.

Stewart-Haas Racing have already surpassed their win total from last year, and they do not appear to be done winning. Last week, Clint Bowyer earned his first victory with Stewart-Haas Racing, and  he snapped a 190-race winless streak in doing so. He may be turning a corner, which is great news for the team and bad news for the competition.

Bowyer’s teammate, Kevin Harvick, won three races in a row earlier this season. He arguably would have had a good chance at winning four consecutive races if he had not crashed at Auto Club Speedway.

The success doesn’t stop there. Aric Almirola was two turns away from a Daytona 500 victory. He hasn’t finished worse than 14th this season. It appears to be only a matter of time before Almirola is a driver who is in contention to win every week. Even though Kurt Busch has two DNFs early this season, he has two top 10 finishes as well. Excluding his two DNFs, he hasn’t finished a race in a position worse than 14th.

Stewart-Haas Racing are also preparing for a big milestone. When all four drivers start the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, the team will have a combined 1,000 starts in the Cup Series.
