The seventh race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season is set to take place this Sunday. Here is the entry list for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas.
After a week off to celebrate Easter following the postponed STP 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia, the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500.
This weekend’s race is set to last for 334 laps around the four-turn, 1.5-mile D-shaped oval, making its scheduled distance 501 miles. The last time a race at Texas went to overtime was in November of 2014, while the last time an April Texas race went to overtime was in April of 2014.
This weekend’s race is set to feature 38 drivers, which is the same number of drivers that competed in the STP 500 at Martinsville two weeks ago. The driver total of 38 is tied for the second highest of the 2018 season with the total from Martinsville behind only the driver total of 40 from the season opener, the Daytona 500.

Last year’s April Texas race was won by Jimmie Johnson after he started the race in 24th place, while the most recent Texas race this past November in the round of 8 of the 2017 NASCAR Cup Series was won by Kevin Harvick, who locked himself into the Championship 4 by winning the race after starting in 3rd.
Each of the last six races at Texas have featured between seven and nine caution flag periods. Following a Martinsville race during which only four caution flag periods took place, of which only one took place as a result of an on-track incident, will the caution flag fly more frequently this Sunday?
