Jean-Eric Vergne’s third win of the 2017-2018 Formula E season allowed him to expand his lead in the championship standings.
Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne dominated the 49-lap 2018 Paris ePrix on the 14-turn, 1.20-mile (1.93-kilometer) Circuit des Invalides in Paris, France.
The 28-year-old Parisian held off Audi Sport ADT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi , who has now finished in second place three races in a row, by 4.882 seconds to take his third win of the 2017-2018 Formula E season.
After the prior Formula E race, the 2018 Rome ePrix, which was held two weeks ago, Vergne’s lead in the championship standings was shrinking since DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird won that race and closed the gap from first place to second place in the standings to just 18 points with five races to go in the season.

However, Vergne’s dominant performance in the 2018 Paris ePrix has caused his lead to become 31 points over Bird, who finished the race in third place and is looking like the only other driver with even an outside chance at winning the 2017-2018 Formula E championship aside of Vergne.
With Vergne having a series-high three wins in eight races and no finishes outside of the top five in any race so far this season, it is time to start to wonder if anybody can catch him to win the fourth annual Formula E championship with only four races to go in the 12-race 2017-2018 Formula E season. Will he become the fourth different champion of the sport in as many seasons?
Here are the updated driver and team standings following the 2018 Qatar Airways Paris ePrix at Circuit des Invalides.
