After a great start to the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season that somehow included no wins, Team Penske finally got their first win of the season at Talladega Superspeedway in the GEICO 500.

After nine races of exceptional performances from their three drivers but no victories to show for it, Team Penske finally got their first win of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season.

They did so when Joey Logano crossed the finish line ahead of the rest of the field to conclude the 188-lap GEICO 500 at the four-turn, 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway oval in Lincoln, Alabama in his #22 Ford.

Logano won the race after the team’s other drivers were involved in a huge accident. Brad Keselowski was knocked out of the race as a result of the accident and the damage that his #2 Ford sustained, and Ryan Blaney’s #12 Ford sustained damage as well.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Team Penske are now the fifth team to win a race through 10 races so far this season. They have joined Richard Childress Racing and Furniture Row Racing in a third place tie with one win so far this season, and they now trail only Stewart-Haas Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing in that category.

Stewart-Haas Racing have won four races so far this season, while Joe Gibbs Racing have won three. In fact, coming into the GEICO 500, Joe Gibbs Racing had won three races in a row, with all three of those races having been won by Kyle Busch.

Stewart-Haas Racing won three races in a row earlier in the season as well, and Kevin Harvick was responsible for each of those three victories. Clint Bowyer was responsible for the team’s other and most recent victory.
