The 12th race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season is set to take place at Kansas Speedway. Let’s look back at the last five races at the track.
The KC Masterpiece 400 is the 12th race on the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, and it is set to take place at the four-turn, 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway tri-oval in Kansas City, Kansas. The race is scheduled to start shortly after the live broadcast of it begins on Fox Sports 1 at 8:00 pm ET on Saturday, May 12.
This visit to Kansas Speedway is the first of the usual two this season for the Cup Series, with the other coming in October as the third and final race of the round of 12 of the 2018 Cup Series playoffs.
Before the 2018 KC Masterpiece 400, let’s look back at what has happened in the last five races at Kansas Speedway, which have featured four different winners.
October 2015

Joey Logano started the race in 14th place and went on to win it after leading 42 of its 269 laps, as the race went to overtime. He won the race by 0.491 seconds over Denny Hamlin in second. Race polesitter Brad Keselowski finished in ninth after leading 28 laps. Matt Kenseth led the most laps of anyone in the field with 153 laps led, but he ended up finishing in 14th after starting in 11th after Logano spun him out late in the race, which started a feud that would not end well for Logano at Martinsville later that season. The race featured 21 lead changes among nine different drivers and seven caution flag periods for 39 laps.

May 2016
Kyle Busch started the race in sixth place and went on to win it after leading 69 of its 267 laps. He won the race by 1.112 seconds over Kevin Harvick in second. Race polesitter Martin Truex Jr. dominated the race, as he led 172 laps, but he ended up finishing in 14th. The race featured 16 lead changes among 10 different drivers and six caution flag periods for 30 laps.
October 2016
Kevin Harvick started the race in 11th place and went on to win it after leading 74 of its 267 laps. He won the race by 1.183 seconds over Carl Edwards in second. Race polesitter Matt Kenseth led the most laps of anyone in the field with 116 laps led, but he ended up finishing in ninth. The race featured 18 lead changes among 10 different drivers and eight caution flag periods for 38 laps.
May 2017
Martin Truex Jr. started the race in third place and went on to win it after leading 104 of its 267 laps, which was a field-high total of laps led. He won the race by 1.100 seconds over Brad Keselowski in second. Race polesitter Ryan Blaney finished in fourth after leading 83 laps. The race featured 21 lead changes among nine different drivers and 15 caution flag periods for 61 laps.
October 2017
Martin Truex Jr. started the race from the pole position and went on to win it after leading 91 of its 267 laps. He won the race by 2.284 seconds over Kurt Busch in second. Kyle Busch led the most laps of anyone in the field with 112 laps led, but he finished in 10th after starting in seventh. The race featured 14 lead changes among seven different drivers and 10 caution flag periods for 49 laps.
