Julian Edelman, 31, is a wide receiver for the New England Patriots of the NFL. He has played for the Patriots since he was drafted by the team in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. At 31 years old, he is the oldest athlete discussed in this article.

Edelman, who is 5’10” tall and weighs 200 pounds, sat out the entire 2017 NFL season with a torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered in a preseason game. In the 2016 season, he caught 98 passes for 1,106 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran the ball 12 times for 57 yards, returned three kickoffs for 44 yards, and returned 15 punts for 135 yards.

Over the course of his nine-year career in the NFL, Edelman has caught 425 passes for 4,540 yards and 24 touchdowns. He has run the ball 39 times for 257 yards, returned 29 kickoffs for 607 yards, and returned the ball 157 times for 1,832 yards and four touchdowns.

Edelman achieved his career-high of 105 receptions in the 2013 season, his career-high of 1,106 receiving yards in the 2016 season, and his career-high of seven receiving touchdowns in the 2015 season.

Edelman rode as Mario Andretti’s passenger in the Honda two-seater to start the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach in the 2017 IndyCar season. He enjoyed the experience and stated that he has a brand new respect for the sport, which is a response that is extremely common for all kinds of athletes when they are first exposed to IndyCar in person.
