Martin Truex Jr. won for the second time in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, as he was victorious in the Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway.
Furniture Row Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, was one of only six drivers who had won at least one Cup Series race in 2018 coming into the 14th race of the season, which was the Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway.
However, Truex Jr. only had one win to his name so far this season. That win came in the race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California back in March. He ended up doubling his win total in the 2018 Cup Series season by winning the race at the three-turn, Pocono Raceway triangle in Long Pond, Pennsylvania in his #78 Toyota. He led 31 of the race’s 160 laps.
Truex Jr. is now one of only three drivers who have won more than one race so far this season. With two victories, Truex Jr. trails only Kevin Harvick, who has five victories, and Kyle Busch, who has four victories, in the wins category through 14 races in 2018.

Truex Jr. held off Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson in second place by 2.496 seconds to take the victory. Larson was the race’s highest finishing driver in his #42 Chevrolet. Harvick was the race’s highest finishing Ford driver in his #4 Ford.
The race featured a total of 11 lead changes among seven drivers. Aside of Truex Jr., six other drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Busch, Harvick, Brad Keselowski, race polesitter Ryan Blaney, Jimmie Johnson and Darrell Wallace Jr. Harvick led more laps than anybody else in the field after he started the race in second place. He led 89 of the race’s 160 laps.
The race also featured six caution flag periods, with four of them taking place as a result of incidents and two of them taking place as a result of the endings of stage one and stage two. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 34 finished it. Of the 34 drivers who finished it, 27 did so on the lead lap.
