Which Formula 1 drivers are on the hot seat as silly season gets ready to heat up? Here are five drivers would could lose their rides in the 2019 season.

One-third of the 2018 Formula 1 schedule is in the books, as seven of the 21 races on the schedule are in the books. There have already been talks about what next year’s driver lineup will look like, especially since only two drivers currently have contracts for next season.

Those two drivers are Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen. Both drivers signed deals last season to remain with their respective teams until at least the end of the 2020 season.

The other 18 seats among Formula 1’s 10 teams are open as of now. While there are several drivers who will most assuredly return to their current teams next season and beyond and others are more likely than not to do so, there are also several drivers whose situations are not as certain.

Of those several drivers whose situations beyond the conclusion of the 2018 season, or perhaps even before the 2018 season comes to an end, are uncertain, several of those drivers can be considered as drivers who are on the hot seat and will need to improve if they want to be sure that they will stay put in the 2019 season.

Here are five Formula 1 drivers who are on the hot seat.
