The Overton’s 400 at Chicagoland Speedway is the 17th race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season. Here is the full entry list for that race.

A total of 20 races remain in the 36-race 2018 NASCAR Cup Series regular season, and just 10 races remain in the 26-race regular season, making this Sunday’s Overton’s 400 the 17th race of the year.

The Overton’s 400 is set to be held at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois on Sunday, July 1. It is the first race of the season that is set to be broadcast live on either NBC or NBC Sports Network, and it is set to be broadcast on the latter.

Since the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.4-kilometer) Chicagoland Speedway oval began hosting Cup Series races in the 2001 season, it has hosted exactly one race ever season. From the 2001 season to the 2010 season, the race was held in July. From the 2001 season to the 2006 season, it was the 18th race of the season, and from the 2007 season to the 2010 season, it was the 19th race of the season.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

From the 2011 season to the 2017 season, the race was the 27th race of the season and the first race of the playoffs. However, this season, the race is back in the regular season, and it is set to take place earlier than it has every taken place before, as it has never been held before July 9 before and it has never been the 17th race of the season before, either.

All 17 of the previous races at Chicagoland Speedway have featured field sizes that matched the Cup Series maximum field sizes at the time. From the 2001 season to the 2015 season when the maximum field size was 43 drivers, a total of 43 drivers entered each race. In the 2016 season and the 2017 when the maximum field size was 40 drivers, a total of 40 drivers entered both races.

While the maximum field size is still 40 drivers this season, only 39 drivers are on the entry list for this year’s Overton’s 400. Only three races that have taken place so far this season featured 40 drivers, so this should come as no surprise, and only two other races that have taken place so far this season featured 39 drivers.
