How do the full-time NASCAR Cup Series teams stack up against one another now that the 2018 season is halfway over following the Coke Zero Sugar 400?

The 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season has officially reached its halfway mark, as the first 18 races on the 36-race 2018 schedule have been completed while the last 18 races on the schedule have not yet been contested. The 26-race regular season is officially more than two-thirds of the way over as well, as just eight races remain in it.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones won the season’s 18th race, which was the Coke Zero Sugar 400. Jones won the wreck-filled race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Daytona International Speedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida even though he was unable to escape all of the many wrecks that took place over the course of that 168-lap race. In fact, he even fell one lap down as a result of his involvement in one of the wrecks.

By winning the Coke Zero Sugar 400, Jones delivered Joe Gibbs Racing’s their sixth victory of the season. The team’s win total this year now trails the win total of Stewart-Haas Racing, the team that leads the series in wins so far this season, by just one win, and Joe Gibbs Racing have now won two races in a row, as Kyle Busch won last Sunday’s race at Chicagoland Speedway.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Just five teams have won at least one race so far this season, and only three of those five teams have won multiple races so far this season. Aside of Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing, Furniture Row Racing are the only other team with multiple victories so far this season. The two teams with one victory and one victory only so far this season are Richard Childress Racing and Team Penske.

Thanks to Jones’s victory in the Coke Zero Sugar 400, Joe Gibbs Racing became the second team to have multiple drivers win at least one race in 2018, as Busch has already earned five victories so far this year. Stewart-Haas Racing are the other one of those two teams, as Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer have earned five victories and two victories, respectively, so far this season.
