Kevin Harvick

Rather than picking the “big three” each week and taking up 60% of the “5 drivers most likely to win” articles talking about those three drivers, I plan on picking the one driver of the three that I feel has the best chance of the group to get the win. This week, my choice is Kevin Harvick to take home the checkered flag in the Quaker State 400.

In the seven NASCAR Cup Series races held at Kentucky Speedway, Harvick has an average finish of 10.00. His best finishes are seventh place in 2014, eighth in 2015 and ninth in 2016 and 2017.

Although Harvick has yet to find victory lane at Kentucky Speedway, this could be the weekend he is able to do so. In the races that Harvick hasn’t won this season, he has been a factor. Had a late caution flag come out in the race at Sonoma Raceway, he probably would have been the victor. In the race at Chicagoland Speedway, he almost caught Kyle Busch in the end. Races at Daytona are always wild cars, but he almost won there as well before he was taken out in a late wreck.

Even though Martin Truex Jr. is the defending race winner at Kentucky and Kyle Busch has won twice at the track, I still feel that it will be Harvick’s weekend. No matter what happens, you can bet that all three of the “big three” will be up toward the front before the race is all said and done.
