Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Lucas di Grassi, the reigning Formula E champion, earned his second victory of the 2017-2018 Formula E season by winning the first race of the 2018 New York City ePrix, which was the 11th race of the 12-race season.
The Brazilian’s victory in the 43-lap race around the 13-turn, 1.21-mile (1.947-kilometer) Brooklyn Street Circuit in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York was his second consecutive victory, as he also won the 10th race of the season, the Zürich ePrix.
By winning the first race of the New York City ePrix, di Grassi became the fifth driver to win multiple races in the 2017-2018 season. All five drivers who have won at least one race so far this season have won multiple races.
Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne, who secured the 2017-2018 Formula E championship by finishing in fifth place in the first race of the New York City ePrix, is the only driver who has won three races so far this season.
The other four drivers who have won at least one race so far this season have all earned two victories. Aside of di Grassi, those drivers are Mahindra Racing’s Felix Rosenqvist, DS Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird and Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Daniel Abt.
