The 20th race of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301, is under what is an expected rain delay.

The Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which is the 20th race on the 36-race 2018 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, is currently under what is an expected rain delay.

The 301-lap race around the four-turn, 1.058-mile (1.703-kilometer) New Hampshire Motor Speedway oval in Loudon, New Hampshire was initially scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. ET today, but yesterday, it was rescheduled to start one hour earlier at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Seeing as how rain was predicted to start this morning at roughly 6:00 a.m. ET and turn into thunderstorms at roughly 11:00 a.m. ET in Loudon, New Hampshire, it is not shocking whatsoever that the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 has been added to the long list of races that have been delayed this season due to rain.

The weather in Loudon, New Hampshire is currently cloudy, so if the track dries, which is certainly possible with eight units of the Toyota Tundra track-drying team as well as six jet dryers and an Elgin sweeper drying the track, the race may be able to take place today.

According to Weather.com, thunderstorms will likely begin later tonight at 7:00 p.m. ET, which means that there is a possibility that the first two stages of the race can be held today, which would make the race official even if it ends up being shortened. Only one race has been shortened so far this season as a result of rain, and that race was the race at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday, June 10. It was ended after just 133 of its scheduled 200 laps were completed.

If the race gets underway today but its first two stages are not completed, the race would become the second race to be suspended this season. The race at Bristol Motor Speedway earlier this year started on Sunday, April 15 and finished on Monday, April 16.

If the race does not get underway today, it would become the second race to be postponed this season. The race at Martinsville Speedway earlier this year was scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 25, but it was not contested until Monday, March 26 as a result of snow.

Should the race not be completed today, it may not get completed tomorrow, either, as tonight’s predicted thunderstorms at the track are not predicted to end until tomorrow at around 7:00 p.m. ET.
