Looking for improvement

C-. Haas driver Kevin Magnussen had the opportunity to continue his streak of outperforming teammate Romain Grosjean, but he was unable to do so this weekend. He qualified in an impressive fifth place but was unable to hold the position in the opening laps of the race. Poor pit strategy placed the Dane deep in the field, where he was unable to progress back up into the points. He finished in 11th.. No. 20. Haas, Ferrari. KEVIN MAGNUSSEN

Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly started the 2018 German Grand Prix in 20th place after having to change out engine components before the race. He was aided by five other drivers failing to finish the race as well as his pass of another to finish in 14th.. No. 10. Scuderia Toro Rosso, Honda. PIERRE GASLY. C-

D. Renault Sport driver Carlos Sainz Jr. qualified well enough to start the race in eighth place, but he had trouble holding that position during the race. He was also caught out by the poor weather, causing him to fall back to 12th and fail to earn any points in a competitive mid-pack.. No. 55. Renault Sport, Renault. CARLOS SAINZ JR.

CHARLES LECLERC. D-. Alfa Romeo Sauber driver Charles Leclerc had another opportunity to earn points and prove why he is the next driver in line to be scooped up by a major team, likely Ferrari. Unfortunately, this was a race to forget for the young driver. He started the race in ninth place but had trouble keeping his tires fresh and struggled further when the track conditions began to deteriorate. He was the last running driver to finish the German Grand Prix, and he finished in 15th.. No. 16. Alfa Romeo Sauber, Ferrari
