Discussing his reported departure from Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, Kurt Busch says that he hasn’t signed anything for next year.

It was reported earlier today that 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kurt Busch is set to leave Stewart-Haas Racing along with his primary sponsor, Monster Energy, at the end of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season and that he is set to replace Jamie McMurray at Chip Ganassi Racing as the driver of the #1 Chevrolet starting in the 2019 season.

However, Busch, who currently sits in fourth place in the Cup Series championship standings as the driver of the #41 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford, claims that he has not yet signed anything as far as a contract for the 2019 season goes.

Here is what the 40-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada native had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.

"“I’m talking to a bunch of teams out there. There’s nothing that’s been signed and whatever has been reported is all hearsay.”"

After last year’s miscommunication during which it was reported that Busch would not re-sign with Stewart-Haas Racing for the 2018 season simply because they did not pick up his option last summer, it is no surprise that this situation involving a potential move to Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2019 season is not straightforward.

Stewart-Haas Racing ended up signing Busch to a one-year contract last December to drive for the team this year even though they did not pick up his option earlier in the year before the season actually ended.

Also according to ESPN, a Chip Ganassi Racing spokesman refused to comment about the matter, but McMurray did offer his thoughts. Here is what he had to say.

"“I don’t talk about contracts. I just don’t discuss any of that kind of stuff.”"

McMurray’s statement pretty much echoes Busch’s statement, although what Busch had to say is definitely a bit more revealing about the situation as a whole.

Do you believe that Kurt Busch will end up leaving Stewart-Haas Racing at the end of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, and if so, do you believe that he will replace Jamie McMurray at Chip Ganassi Racing as the driver of the #1 Chevrolet like it has been reported that he will do? At this point, it’s anybody’s guess, especially with not much being said about these reports by the teams and drivers themselves.
