NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings after 2018 Bojangles’ Southern 500

With just one race remaining in the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series regular season, these editions of formulated NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings and non-formulated NASCAR Cup Series Driver Power Rankings will likely be the final sets of rankings that feature non-playoff drivers in the top 16 and playoff drivers outside of the top 16.
This week’s edition of the formulated set of rankings feature 12 of the 14 drivers who have already clinched playoff berths in the top 12. The other two, Austin Dillon and Aric Almriola, are ranked in the 14th and 16th positions, respectively.

Of the other two drivers who were in the top 16 of the formulated set of rankings, one of them, Alex Bowman, is currently in the playoff picture. He was ranked in the 13th position. The other driver, Daniel Suarez, needs to win the regular season finale to get into the playoffs. He is ranked in 15th.
The only driver who is currently in the playoff picture but was not in the top 16 in the formulated set of rankings is Jimmie Johnson. He is ranked in the 19th position behind two more drivers, Ryan Newman in 17th and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 18th, who need to win the season finale to get into the playoffs.
This week’s edition of the non-formulated set of rankings feature 13 of the 14 drivers who have already clinched playoff berths in the top 13. The other one, Dillon, is ranked in the 17th position as the only driver who is currently in the playoff picture but is ranked outside of the top 16.
Of the other three drivers who are in the top 16 of the non-formulated set of rankings, two of them, Johnson and Bowman, are currently in the playoff picture. They are ranked in the 14th and 15th positions, respectively. The other driver, Stenhouse Jr., needs to win the regular season finale to get into the playoffs, as referenced above. He is ranked in 16th.
