NASCAR: 4 drivers who could sign with Richard Childress Racing for 2019

Ryan Newman
While Ryan Newman’s contract with Richard Childress Racing is, in fact, set to expire at the end of the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, there is no guarantee that he will not be re-signed by the team to return for what would be his 18th season in the Cup Series and his sixth season driving for the team.

As previously stated in this article, Newman has not had a ton of success during his five seasons driving for Richard Childress Racing. But even though he has just one victory as the driver of the #31 Chevrolet and he earned that one victory as a result of a bold strategy call, he has still performed at a higher level than most other drivers in the field have during these last five years.
In three of his five seasons driving for Richard Childress Racing, Newman has qualified for the playoffs. While he did not win a race in the 2014 season, he did finish in second place in the championship standings that year, and he came just one position away from sealing the title in the Championship 4 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, as he finished in second to Kevin Harvick, who clinched the title as a result of his victory in that race.
There is no doubt that Richard Childress Racing could do a lot worse than re-signing Newman for the 2019 season.
With several drivers who Richard Childress Racing could potentially sign for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, who will they end up signing? Will they sign Daniel Hemric or Kurt Busch, or will they re-sign Ryan Newman?
