Conclusion

There is not a whole lot to discuss about the Formula 1 Driver Power Rankings after the 2018 Singapore Grand Prix. The top seven stayed the same from after the Italian Grand Prix in the formulated set of rankings, and the top six are projected to stay the same in this set of rankings after the next race, the Russian Grand Prix as well.

More from Formula One

The most notable movements in the formulated set of rankings were the fact that Carlos Sainz Jr.’s eighth place finish bumped him up from the 11th position to the eighth position while Esteban Ocon’s first-lap retirement and subsequent 20th place finish bumped him down from the eighth position to the 12th position.

In the calculation for these drivers’ average finishes in the last five races, Sainz Jr.’s eighth place finish replaced his 16th place finish in the British Grand Prix, which decreased his average finish in the last five races by 1.6 (11.2 from to 9.6). Ocon’s 20th place finish replaced his seventh place finish in the British Grand Prix, which increased his average finish in the last five races by 2.6 (from 8.0 to 10.6)

Most notably in the non-formulated set of rankings, Max Verstappen used an impressive second place finish, his top finish since he won the Austrian Grand Prix in early July, to rise to the third position from the fifth position. He has not been in the third position in either set of rankings since he was in the third position in both sets following his Austrian Grand Prix victory.
