One of the biggest NASCAR news points from the week was the abrupt retirement of veteran Kasey Kahne. Here are the top five moments of his NASCAR Cup Series career.

Howdy, NASCAR fans! I hope your week is going well, and I hope you’re excited for the upcoming race weekend at Talladega Superspeedway! While race fans across the country are looking forward to the biggest wild card race of the playoffs, the NASCAR community received less positive news mid-day on Tuesday.

News broke that 15-year Cup Series veteran Kasey Kahne would be stepping away from NASCAR earlier than expected. In mid-August, Kahne announced that the 2018 season would be his final season of NASCAR competition, but since he made that announcement, things took a left turn.

After suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration issues following the race at Darlington Raceway, Kahne has missed the last five races. After failing a test last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway and remaining uncleared to race, he abruptly ended his NASCAR career.

Kahne assured fans on social media that outside of the cockpit he was fully healthy and that he would be returning to dirt racing soon. He was hoping to finish out the season with his current team, Leavine Family Racing, but he has now confirmed that his final NASCAR race is behind him.

Personally, I have been hard on Kahne the last few years, but this post is about honoring one of the original young guns the sport has seen. Now, enough depressing talk; in this post, I will discuss the top five moments of his career!
