NASCAR Xfinity Series: Tyler Reddick to drive for Richard Childress Racing in 2019
By Asher Fair
Tyler Reddick is set to make the switch from JR Motorsports to Richard Childress Racing for the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
Tyler Reddick, who is currently competing in his first season as a full-time NASCAR Xfinity Series driver following one season as a part-time driver in the series, is set to switch teams in the 2019 season.
The 22-year-old Corning, California native competed part-time for Chip Ganassi Racing last season behind the wheel of the #42 Chevrolet before making the move to JR Motorsports this season as the full-time driver of the #9 Chevrolet.
Next season, Reddick is set to drive for Richard Childress Racing on a full-time basis, although it has not yet been confirmed which car he will be driving.
Here is what Reddick had to say about the opportunity to drive full-time for Richard Childress Racing in the 2019 season, according to NASCAR.
"“I’m really looking forward to joining RCR in 2019. RCR has had a stout Xfinity program throughout the years with a lot of talented team members and resources available to its drivers. I want to thank JR Motorsports for what they’ve done this past year to help me advance my career and skills behind the wheel. Ultimately, my goal is to race on Sundays and I feel that by joining RCR, I can continue to race up front in the Xfinity Series while also learning from one of the top Cup programs in the garage.”"
Here is what Richard Childress Racing team owner Richard Childress had to say about Reddick driving full-time for the team next season, according to NASCAR.

"“Tyler has had a lot of success so far in his racing career, and we intend on continuing that success with him in 2019. I’m confident that he will do a great job representing RCR on and off the track. Tyler is a talented driver who’s not afraid to go after wins, and I look forward to seeing that drive to win on the track with us next season.”"
Richard Childress Racing’s Daniel Hemric, who currently drives the #21 Chevrolet, is set to replace Ryan Newman behind the wheel of the #31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the Cup Series next year, so Reddick may end up driving the #21 Chevrolet in 2019.
Over the course of his Xfinity Series career, Reddick has competed in 49 races. He competed in 18 of last season’s 33 races and he has competed in each of the 31 races that have been contested so far this season.
In these 49 races, Reddick has earned two victories, 10 top five finishes, 24 top 10 finishes and two pole positions. He earned his first career victory last season in the race at Kentucky Speedway, and he won this year’s season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Reddick currently sits in second place in the playoff picture with one race remaining before the Championship 4. He sits 20 points ahead of the Championship 4 cut line and is in a great position to advance to the season finale with a chance to win the 2018 title.
The 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series season is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, February 16 with the Daytona 300 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
