NASCAR Cup Series: Who is the greatest driver of all-time?
By Asher Fair
The great debate takes place in all sports: who is the greatest of all-time? Here are five NASCAR drivers who you could make the case for as the best ever.
To open up 2018 about a month and a half before the Daytona 500 kicked off the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, we published a slideshow discussing our top 10 NASCAR drivers of all-time.
As is the case with any top 10 or top 50 or top 100 or pretty much top anything of all-time in any sport, this article was subjective. Several of the drivers who were discussed in the article can be debated as deserving to be ranked higher or lower or perhaps even not at all, and several drivers who were not discussed in the article can be debated as deserving to be ranked on the list and perhaps even toward the top of it.
This article is a little bit different. In conjunction with our article discussing our top 10 NASCAR drivers of all-time, we published articles discussing our top 10 IndyCar drivers of all-time and our top 10 Formula 1 drivers of all-time.
To go along with the article discussing our top 10 Formula 1 drivers of all-time, we also published an article discussing five drivers who you could make a case for as the greatest Formula 1 driver of all-time. That is what this article is about from a NASCAR standpoint.
Here are the five drivers who you could make a legitimate case for as the greatest driver in NASCAR Cup Series history. They are not discussed in any particular order, and they are not necessarily the best five drivers in the sport’s history.
