With only the Championship 4 left on the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, how have the four Championship 4 drivers fared against one another this year?
The Ford EcoBoost 400, the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season finale and Championship 4 race, is scheduled to take place this Sunday, November 18. Following this race, this year’s champion is set to be crowned.
The four drivers who are set to compete to win this year’s championship in the Ford EcoBoost 400 are Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, Team Penske’s Joey Logano, Furniture Row Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick.
Before the 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Homestead-Miami Speedway oval in Homestead, Florida, let’s have a look at how each of these four drivers have fared against each other up to this point in the season since the highest finisher among them in this race will be crowned this year’s champion.

As far as the average finishes of each of these drivers are concerned, Busch has the best through the season’s first 35 races. His average finish is 8.43 while Harvick’s is 9.00, Logano’s is 10.94 and Truex Jr.’s is 10.97.
Harvick and Busch have each earned eight victories so far this season while Truex Jr. has earned four and Logano has earned two.
But how has each driver fared against the other three?
When it comes to just these four drivers, Harvick has finished higher than the other three in 11 of the 35 races that have been contested so far this season. Busch has done so in 10 while Logano and Truex Jr. have each done so in seven.
Harvick has finished behind one of the other three drivers and ahead of the other two in 12 of the 35 races that have been contested so far this season. Busch has done so in 10 while Truex Jr. has done so in nine and Logano has done so in four.
Logano has finished behind two of the other three drivers and ahead of the other one in 11 of the 35 races that have been contested so far this season. Busch has done so in 10 while Truex Jr. has done so in nine and Harvick has done so in five.
Finally, Logano has finished behind all three of the other drivers in 13 of the 35 races that have been contested so far this season. Truex Jr. has done so in 10 while Harvick has done so in seven and Busch has done so in five.
Among these four drivers, Harvick has the best average finish when including only his results relative to the results of the other three drivers. His average finish is 2.23 while Busch’s is 2.29, Truex Jr.’s is 2.63 and Logano’s is 2.86.
