NASCAR Truck Series: Kyle Busch confirmed for five races in 2019
By Asher Fair
Kyle Busch has announced that he is set to compete in five races throughout the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season, the same amount of races in which he competed in the 2018 season.
In addition to returning to the NASCAR Cup Series for his 15th consecutive season as a full-time driver in the 2019 season, Kyle Busch is set to return to the NASCAR Truck Series as a part-time driver for the 17th overall season and 16th consecutive season.
Busch, who owns Kyle Busch Motorsports, announced that he is set to compete in five races throughout the 23-race 2019 Truck Series season as the driver of the #51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.
The #51 Toyota is set to carry primary sponsorship from Textron Aviation Inc., and it is set to promote the Cessna and Beechcraft brands of the general and business aviation company.
Here is what the 33-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada native had to say about the matter, according to NASCAR.
"“I’m thankful to Textron Aviation and the Cessna and Beechcraft brands for coming aboard the No. 51 Tundra for five races again this season. We’ve been able to celebrate with them in Victory Lane twice in each of the first two seasons of the sponsorship so we’ll see if we can top that number this year and if so, we’ll be starting it off with a historic one.“The Truck Series is always a lot of fun for me as a driver. And as an owner, it gives me the opportunity to work alongside the young drivers that we have at KBM to get a better understanding of what they are experiencing. From year to year rule changes affect the handling of the trucks. By continuing to be an active driver in the Truck Series I’m able to provide better feedback to our young drivers not only on the weekends I’m racing, but on the weekends when I’m coaching from atop the pit box as well.”"
The five races in which Busch is set to compete are among the season’s first eight races. He is set to compete in the second, third, fourth, fifth and eight races of the season.

These five races are set to take place at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. They are scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 23, Friday, March 1, Saturday, March 23, Friday, March 29 and Friday, May 17, respectively.
The driver or drivers who will drive the #51 Toyota in the other 18 races on the 2019 schedule have not yet been named. It has, however, been revealed that Todd Gilliland is set to drive the #4 Toyota for the team on a full-time basis while Harrison Burton is set to drive the #18 Toyota for the team on a full-time basis.
Busch is set to enter the 2019 Truck Series season having competed in 145 races in the series, and he has earned 51 victories in these races, a win total that is tied for the all-time Truck Series wins record with the win total of Ron Hornaday Jr.
Busch has earned at least two victories in each of the last six Truck Series seasons, including two last season when he competed in five of the season’s 23 races. He has won 21 of the 41 races in which he has competed in the series going back to the start of the 2013 season.
Including his victories in the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series, Busch’s win total is 194, which is just six wins behind the all-time record of 200, which is held by the great Richard Petty. The five Truck Series starts that Busch is set to make in the 2019 season strengthen the chances to not only match but break this all-time NASCAR wins record this year.
Be sure to tune in to each of the five NASCAR Truck Series races in which Kyle Busch is set to compete in the 2019 season, and be sure not to miss any of the other 18 races on this year’s schedule, either. The season is scheduled to begin at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida on Friday, February 15 with the NextEra Energy 250.
