Tyler Reddick is set to drive for Richard Childress Racing in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the Daytona 500, at Daytona International Speedway.
After winning the 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion as a rookie driving for JR Motorsports, Tyler Reddick is set to drive the #2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the 2019 Xfinity Series season as the replacement for Matt Tifft, who is set to drive full-time for Front Row Motorsports in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season.
In addition, it has now been revealed that Reddick is set to drive the #31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season opener, the 61st annual Daytona 500, at Daytona International Speedway.

The 23-year-old Corning, California native, who has never competed in a Cup Series race before, is set to drive in the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Daytona International Speedway oval in Daytona Beach, Florida as a teammate to 2018 Daytona 500 winner Austin Dillon and Daniel Hemric, Richard Childress Racing’s two full-time drivers.

Dillon is set to drive the #3 Chevrolet on a full-time basis for the sixth consecutive season while Hemric is set to drive the #8 Chevrolet in his first season as a full-time driver. While he is set to drive the #8 Chevrolet, Hemric is set to replace Ryan Newman, who drove the #31 Chevrolet in each of the last five seasons. The fact that he will not use the #31 leaves that number open for Reddick.
While Reddick has never competed in the Daytona 500 before and he has never competed in a Cup Series race before, he has competed in several races at Daytona International Speedway before.
He has competed in four Xfinity Series races at the track and earned one victory, as he won the 2018 season opener, and he has competed in three Truck Series races at the track and earned one victory, as he won the 2015 season opener. He has also competed in one ARCA Racing Series race at the track.
Fox is set to broadcast the 61st annual Daytona 500 live from Daytona International Speedway beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 17, so be sure not to miss the coverage of the opening race of the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season.
