The NASCAR “GOAT” poll tiebreaker between NASCAR legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr. is set. Who is the greatest NASCAR driver of all-time?

Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr. both defeated three other NASCAR drivers in the round of 16, the round of 8 and the round of 4 of the NASCAR “GOAT” poll to advance to the championship round.

A total of 896 people voted for either Petty or Earnhardt as the greatest NASCAR driver of all-time in this championship poll. Of these 896 people, 448 voted for Petty, who was the #1 seed heading into this 16-driver bracket, and 448 voted for Earnhardt, who was the #3 seed.

Yes, the two seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champions tied.

You could undoubtedly argue that Petty and Earnhardt are the NASCAR “co-GOATs”. But instead of rolling with this, there is set to be a tiebreaker between these two NASCAR legends as a result of this 448-448 tie.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Throughout this entire “GOAT” poll process, all of the polls, including those for not only NASCAR but for Formula 1 and IndyCar as well, have lasted for exactly 24 hours. They have lasted from 6:00 a.m. ET on one day through 6:00 a.m. ET on the next.

However, instead of this championship tiebreaker poll lasting only one day, it is set to last for one week to give more people the opportunity to vote. This championship tiebreaker poll is scheduled to begin on our Facebook page at 6:00 a.m. ET on Monday, February 4, and you can vote in it at any time from then until 6:00 a.m. ET on Monday, February 11.

Throughout this seven-day span, our plan is to provide voting updates both on Beyond the Flag itself and on our Facebook page. These updates should naturally serve the purpose of keeping you updated on how the poll is looking, and we also hope that they will encourage those who have not yet voted to vote.
