Barring an unprecedented miracle, Dale Earnhardt Sr. will be the driver voted the greatest NASCAR driver of all-time in the NASCAR “GOAT” poll tiebreaker.

More than 5,000 votes have been cast for either seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Richard Petty or fellow seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt Sr. as the greatest NASCAR driver of all-time in the NASCAR “GOAT” poll tiebreaker.

Barring a miracle, Earnhardt is going to end up finishing well ahead of Petty in this poll, so much so that it is hard to believe that the original championship poll ended up resulting in both drivers receiving 448 of the 896 votes that were cast.

The original championship poll lasted from Thursday, January 31 at 6:00 a.m. ET through Friday, February 1 at 6:00 a.m. ET. The tiebreaker began on Monday, February 4 at 6:00 a.m. ET and is not scheduled to end until Monday, February at 11:00 a.m. ET.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

Here are the current vote counts and percentages for both Petty, who entered the 16-driver bracket that is now down to just him and Earnhardt as the #1 seed, and Earnhardt, who entered this bracket as the #3 seed, with slightly under two and a half days remaining before this poll is scheduled to close.

NOTE: These vote counts and percentages are accurate as of 8:15 p.m. ET on Friday, February 8. Not all of the poll updates that are given will be based on vote counts at the same time of day.

Votes since last update (6:35 p.m. ET on Thursday, February 7): 387

Richard Petty: 80 votes (20.7%)
Dale Earnhardt: 307 votes (79.3%)

Total votes: 5,487

Richard Petty: 1,100 votes (20.0%)
Dale Earnhardt: 4,387 votes (80.0%)

The only way that Petty rallies back from this deficit to defeat Earnhardt is Russian collusion. But even that might not work.

While the NASCAR “GOAT” poll tiebreaker appears to be, for all intents and purposes, over, be sure to keep checking in for more updates. If you and/or any NASCAR fans you know have not yet voted, be sure to vote before this poll closes this coming Monday, February 11 at 6:00 a.m. ET. You can do so by clicking here.
